Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: July 22, 2009 Young Teenager Dies In Early Morning Crash Early this morning, a crash involving one vehicle killed a teenager in Catahoula Parish. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:30 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 921 approximately one mile east of US Hwy 425. The crash involved a 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Kevin C. Skipper (W/M 16 yrs) of Clayton, LA. The Honda was west bound on LA Hwy 921 when Skipper lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. The impact was to the driver’s door. After the collision, Skipper was able to exit his vehicle and call his father. Skipper’s father transported him to Franklin Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 41 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 49 fatalities. Twenty-three of the 32 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Two crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle. Seatbelt use is unknown in two fatal crashes.
