Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 15, 2009 Vernon Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Rosepine, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 1146 near Rosepine. The crash involved a 1992 GMC pickup, driven by Timothy W. Gill (W/M 29 yrs). The GMC was east bound on LA Hwy 1146 when Gill lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then reentered the roadway and exited the left side. After exiting the left side of the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. Gill was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol is suspected to be a factor. He was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Troop E Troopers have investigated 45 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 54 fatalities. Twenty-eight of the 37 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Three crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle.
