TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 15, 2013 Free Child Safety Booster Seat Event In Alexandria Alexandria, LA- The Louisiana Child Passenger Safety Task Force (LPSTF), the Hispanic Committee of the South, and Louisiana State Police Troop E are conducting a free child passenger safety booster seat check-up event on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Chick-fil-A located at Jackson Street at MacArthur Drive in Alexandria, LA. No appointment is necessary. It is a proven fact that car seats and booster seats save lives. These devices offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. Louisiana state law requires all vehicle occupants, including children, to be properly restrained in all seating positions day and night. Many injuries and deaths can be prevented by properly using child safety seats. During the past 30 years, approximately 8,959 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important that caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt anytime they are traveling in a vehicle. Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to assist with the proper installation of child safety booster seats. While supplies last, free booster seats will be given to caregivers for children meeting the following criteria: Child MUST weigh between 40 and 100 pounds Child MUST be less than 4 feet 9 inches tall Child MUST be present Only ONE seat per child Contact Information: M/T Daniel “Scott” Moreau Louisiana State Police Public Affairs Section Office: (318) 769-9USA (872) scott.moreau@dps.la.gov www.LSP.org www.facebook.com/LouisianaStatePolice | |||
