Montgomery Man Killed in Crash

Grant Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Montgomery, LA. At this time, it is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.

Troopers responded to the crash around 12:00 p.m., which occurred on U.S. Hwy 71, south of Montgomery. The crash involved a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by Teddy L. Roberts (W/M 70 yoa). The Ford was northbound on U.S. Hwy 71 when Roberts lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then reentered U.S. Hwy 71 and exited the left side. After exiting the left side, the vehicle entered a ditch and then collided with a tree.

Roberts was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 17 fatal crashes in 2019, resulting in 19 fatalities.
