Unrestrained Alexandria Woman Killed in Crash

Natchitoches Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Alexandria, LA who was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers responded to the crash around 7:30 p.m., which occurred on Interstate 49, north of LA Hwy 174. The crash involved a 2001 Honda SUV, driven by Delissa Y. Horn (B/F 52 yoa). The Honda was northbound on Interstate 49 when it experienced a tire failure. As a result, Horn reacted by oversteering and lost control. The vehicle then collided with a guardrail and overturned.

Horn was ejected during the crash and sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport where she was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 18 fatal crashes in 2019, resulting in 20 fatalities.
