TROOP E NEWS RELEASE January 17, 2018 Deville Man Killed in Grant Parish Crash Grant Parish – Late this afternoon, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Deville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:50 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 167, south of Dry Prong, near Brunson Road. The crash involved a 2017 GMC pickup, driven by Travis L. Lowe (W/M 53 yrs). The GMC was southbound on US Hwy 167 when, for reasons still under investigation, Lowe lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle traveled through the grass median, and across both northbound lanes, before colliding with a large tree. Lowe was not wearing his seat belt and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead. Road conditions, speed, or impairment are not considered factors in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated two fatal crashes in 2018, resulting in two fatalities.
