TROOP E NEWS RELEASE
October 17, 2017
Winnfield Man Killed in Winn Parish Crash

Winn Parish Earlier this afternoon, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Winnfield, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:50 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 156 at Stevens Road. The crash involved a 2016 Dodge pickup, driven by Randall L. Shell (W/M 50 yrs). The Dodge was westbound on LA Hwy 156 when Shell lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with two trees.

Shell was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 31 fatal crashes in 2017, resulting in 38 fatalities.
