TROOP E NEWS RELEASE August 6, 2018 Texas Man Killed in Rapides Parish Crash Rapides Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Hemphill, TX. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:40 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 488 at LA Hwy 112. The crash involved a 2018 Honda Accord, driven by Nicholas Adam McClintock (W/M 26 yrs). The Honda was westbound on LA Hwy 488 when McClintock failed to stop at the stop sign located on LA Hwy 488 at LA Hwy 112. The vehicle traveled through the intersection and entered Boyd Road. After entering Boyd Road, the Honda exited the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree. McClintock was wearing his seat belt, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. In 2018, Troop E has investigated 29 fatal crashes resulting in 30 deaths. | |||
