| TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 14, 2018 Unrestrained Colfax Man Dies in Rapides Parish Crash Rapides Parish – An unrestrained Colfax man is dead after the vehicle he was driving traveled off the road and struck a tree. Shortly after 12:15 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a single-vehicle crash on St. Clair Road near Kendall Lane. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 GMC pickup, driven by Hayden Graham (W/M 19 yrs) of Colfax, was traveling south on St. Clair Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle then traveled across both lanes of traffic and struck a large tree on the driver’s side. Graham, who was not wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. In 2018, Troop E has investigated 24 fatal crashes resulting in 24 deaths. | |||
