Unrestrained Elmer Man Killed in Crash

Rapides Parish – Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Elmer, LA. He was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected during the crash.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:55 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 488, east of Ruby Mayo Road. The crash involved a 2005 Ford pickup, driven by Timmy Glenn Boone (W/M 24 yrs). The Ford was eastbound on LA Hwy 488 when Boone lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Boone overcorrected his vehicle and exited the left side, before colliding with several trees.

Boone was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes.

In 2018, Troop E has investigated 15 fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths.
