TROOP E NEWS RELEASE June 9, 2018 Unrestrained Jonesville Man Killed in Crash Concordia Parish – Yesterday, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Jonesville, LA that was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:05 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 84 near Mack Moore Road. The crash involved a 1993 GMC pickup, driven by Stuart G. Chandler (W/M 62 yrs). The GMC was westbound on US Hwy 84 when Chandler lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle traveled through some thick brush before colliding with two trees. Chandler was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The exact time that the crash actually occurred is unknown. It remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. In 2018, Troop E has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 19 deaths. | |||
