Texas Man Killed in Natchitoches Parish Crash

Natchitoches Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Marshall, TX.

Troopers responded to the crash around 10:30 a.m., which occurred on Interstate 49, north of LA Hwy 174. The crash involved a 2002 GMC pickup, driven by a 72 year old white male. The GMC was northbound on Interstate 49 when the male driver lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle traveled through a ditch and collided with a tree.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead. The exact identity of the driver is being withheld until notification to the next of kin is made.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

In 2018, Troop E has investigated 21 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths.
