June 15, 2021 State Police Investigating Bomb Threat in Avoyelles Parish Avoyelles Parish – On June 8, 2021, the Avoyelles Parish 911 Communications Center received a bomb threat from a subject stating he was going to set off a bomb at the Avoyelles Parish Courthouse in Marksville. Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO), along with state and local law enforcement and fire department officials, responded to the scene. Upon investigation, APSO did not locate any explosive devices. APSO requested Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) to conduct a follow-up investigation into the bomb threat. Detectives later identified 44-year-old Michael Scott Dixon, of Plaucheville, as the caller. On June 14, 2021, Dixon was arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail for one count of terrorizing and one count of communicating a planned arson.
