See below for the original news release. Concordia Parish – Last night, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Ferriday, LA that was not wearing his seatbelt. Two juveniles, in his vehicle, were also injured that were not properly restrained. The driver of the other vehicle is suspected of driving while impaired. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:20 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 568 east of LA Hwy 900. The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Patrick R. Krueger (W/M 34 yrs) of Natchez, MS and a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by William K. Loomis III (W/M 50 yrs). The Chevrolet was eastbound on LA Hwy 568 when Krueger lost control and crossed the centerline. This action resulted in the Chevrolet colliding with the westbound Toyota. Krueger was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. He is suspected of driving impaired and was charged with DWI, open container, and careless operation. Other charges are pending. Loomis III was pronounced dead. The two juveniles, in Loomis III’s vehicle, were transported to Riverland Hospital with minor/moderate injuries. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Motorists must be reminded that alcohol has many effects on the body. Alcohol can impair visual ability, alter sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a motor vehicle, and decrease reaction times. Just one drink may cause these effects. Troop E Troopers have investigated 31 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 36 fatalities.
