TROOP E NEWS RELEASE September 30, 2014 Natchitoches Police Officer Honored for Surviving Motor Vehicle Crash Alexandria, LA- On Wednesday, October 1, 2014, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, and Interim LSU Hospital will present a recipient the “Saved by the Belt” award. The award will be given to the recipient, at 10:00 a.m., at Rapides Regional Trauma Center in Alexandria. The award recipient was recently involved in a crash in the Troop E area. He made the decision to buckle up, when he got into the vehicle, and that decision proved to be effective when he was hit by another driver. When a seat belt is worn properly, it not only prevents ejection from a vehicle, but also greatly reduces the chances of significant injuries. During the presentation, photos and a description of the crash investigation will be available. Motor vehicle crashes are the single greatest cause of death and disability for people ages 1 to 34 and are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among people of all ages. Last year, over 72,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana. Louisiana law requires all occupants, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained. Crashes can happen at any time and on any day. The greatest chance of surviving a horrific crash is to Buckle Up. **All media outlets are invited to attend the “Saved by the Belt” Presentation** Contact Information: M/T Daniel “Scott” Moreau Louisiana State Police Public Affairs Section – Troop E Office: (318) 769-9USA (872) scott.moreau@la.gov www.LSP.org www.facebook.com/LouisianaStatePolice | |||
