TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 24, 2014 Two Unrestrained Women Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed two local women that were not wearing their seatbelt. Troopers responded to the crash around 12:15 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 1205 near Credeur Road. The crash involved a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by Heather E. Cosenza McComic (W/F 31 yrs) of Boyce, LA. The Honda was northbound on LA Hwy 1205 when McComic lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. McComic was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead. Her only passenger, identified as Ashley Nicole Gallien (W/F 29 yrs) of Pineville, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 32 fatalities.
