REGION 3 NEWS RELEASE January 9, 2015 Troopers Seeking Public’s Help with 1984 Suspicious Death of a Trooper Investigation Grant Parish – Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) Troopers are seeking help from the public in reference to a 1984 suspicious death investigation. No amount of information should be considered too small to report. All leads/information will be looked into thoroughly. Your tip might just be the break Troopers are looking for in solving this 31 year old case. The suspicious death occurred in Grant Parish and involved one of our own. In January 1984, Louisiana State Police and the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office began investigating the death of Clayton Lovell. At the time of his death, Lovell resided in the Pollock area and was employed by the Louisiana State Police. He was assigned to Troop E as a Trooper. In 2012, new forensic evidence surfaced and the case was reopened. If anyone has any information regarding Trooper Clayton Lovell’s death, they are asked to contact Master Trooper Scott Coco at (318) 487-5730.
