TROOP E NEWS RELEASE February 9, 2015 Unrestrained Effie Man Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Effie, LA. He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected during the crash. The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m., on LA Hwy 1206, near the Deville Cutoff Road. The crash involved a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Jeffrey C. Parker (W/M 60 yrs). The Jeep was westbound on LA Hwy 1206 when Parker lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle entered a deep ditch before colliding with a driveway. This collision caused the vehicle to begin overturning, resulting in the driver’s ejection. Parker was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated two fatal crashes in 2015, resulting in five fatalities.
