REGION 3 NEWS RELEASE February 11, 2015 Drug Traffickers Arrested in Alexandria Alexandria, LA – Earlier today, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation/Alexandria Field Office (LSP AFO) arrested George Marshall (W/M 37 yrs) of Gulf Shores, AL and John Marshall (W/M 40 yrs) of Grass Valley, CA. LSP AFO Troopers received information from the United States Customs Border Protection and Homeland Security regarding suspicious activity of an aircraft at the Alexandria International Airport. Once Troopers arrived on the scene and began their investigation they identified George Marshall as the pilot and John Marshall as the passenger/owner of the aircraft. During the investigation it was determined the men and aircraft were traveling from Boulder City, NV. Due to events that transpired during the investigation, a Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department K-9 was utilized. The K-9 indicated a positive alert on the aircraft. A search of the aircraft was then conducted. Troopers seized over 34 pounds of high grade marijuana (estimated value over $150,000) and over 550 grams of hashish (estimated value over $8,500). Information that was obtained, during interviews, indicated that the seized narcotics were destined for Mardi Gras. Both men were subsequently booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS I) with the intent to distribute.
