TROOP E NEWS RELEASE December 4, 2013 Unrestrained Commercial Vehicle Driver Killed in Crash Sabine Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle (18 wheeler) killed a man from Center, TX. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. Troopers responded to the crash around 1:30 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 191 north of LA Hwy 174. The crash involved a 2007 Mack (18 wheeler), driven by Eldon Ray Hendrix II (B/M 29 yrs). The Mack was northbound on LA Hwy 191 when Hendrix II lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning. Hendrix II was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 47 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 49 fatalities.
