TROOP E NEWS RELEASE August 6, 2013 Unrestrained Teen Killed In Vernon Parish Vernon Parish – Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Anacoco, LA that was not wearing his seatbelt. Troopers responded to the crash around 3:30 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 464 near Fal Road. The crash involved a 1995 Toyota pickup, driven by Brett W. Miller (W/M 19 yrs). The Toyota was eastbound on LA Hwy 464 when Miller lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the right side of the roadway, the vehicle reentered LA Hwy 464 and exited the left side before colliding with several trees and overturning. Miller was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 28 fatalities.
