TROOP E NEWS RELEASE December 24, 2013 Unrestrained Deville Woman Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Deville, LA that was not wearing a seatbelt. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:15 p.m., which occurred on Barron Chapel Road south of LA Hwy 28. The crash involved a 2010 Mazda CX7, driven by Courtney A. Morace (W/F 28 yrs). The Mazda was southbound on Barron Chapel Road when Morace lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a large tree. Morace was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where later she was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 49 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 51 fatalities.
