TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 21, 2014 Unrestrained Glenmora Man Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Glenmora, LA and seriously injured another. Both men were not wearing a seatbelt and were ejected. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 113 at Freedom Road. The crash involved a 2008 Nissan 350, driven by Brandon W. Willis (W/M 28 yrs). The Nissan was northbound on LA Hwy 113, at a high rate of speed, when the driver lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. Brandon Willis was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as Erik M. Willis (W/M 20 yrs), received serious injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 20 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 22 fatalities.
