TROOP E NEWS RELEASE June 13, 2014 **UPDATE**Boyce Teen Killed in Crash **Based on additional information that has been obtained, Andrew M. Juneau was charged with vehicular homicide yesterday. After his arrest, he was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and his bond was set at $150,000.00. Motorists must be reminded that alcohol and drugs have many effects on the body. These substances can impair visual ability, alter sense of time and space, impair fine motor skills needed to operate a motor vehicle, and decrease reaction times. See below for the original news release. Rapides Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Boyce, LA and injured two others. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:15 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 488 west of Alexandria. The crash involved a 1995 GMC pickup, driven by Andrew M. Juneau (W/M 20 yrs) of Boyce. The GMC was westbound on LA Hwy 488 when Juneau lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning and collided with a large tree. It is unknown if Juneau was wearing his seatbelt. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center. Derek J. Stanley (W/M 18 yrs) of Boyce and Brandon L. Ward (W/M 18 yrs) of Otis, LA were passengers in Juneau’s vehicle. It is unknown if Ward was wearing his seatbelt. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Cabrini Hospital. Stanley was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 13 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 15 fatalities.
