TROOP E NEWS RELEASE March 13, 2014 Boyce Teen Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Boyce, LA and injured two others. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:15 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 488 west of Alexandria. The crash involved a 1995 GMC pickup, driven by Andrew M. Juneau (W/M 20 yrs) of Boyce. The GMC was westbound on LA Hwy 488 when Juneau lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning and collided with a large tree. It is unknown if Juneau was wearing his seatbelt. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center. Derek J. Stanley (W/M 18 yrs) of Boyce and Brandon L. Ward (W/M 18 yrs) of Otis, LA were passengers in Juneau’s vehicle. It is unknown if Ward was wearing his seatbelt. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Cabrini Hospital. Stanley was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 13 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 15 fatalities.
