TROOP E NEWS RELEASE January 4, 2014 Unrestrained Campti Man Killed in Crash Natchitoches Parish – Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Campti, LA. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:30 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 486 west of LA Hwy 6. The crash involved a 1991 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Thomas E. Palmer (W/M 60 yrs). The Chevrolet was eastbound on LA Hwy 486 when Palmer lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with several trees. Palmer was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Troop E Troopers have investigated 2 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 3 fatalities.
