TROOP E NEWS RELEASE January 30, 2014 Bunkie Man Killed in Crash Avoyelles Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Bunkie, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:45 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 115 north of LA Hwy 107. The crash involved a 1991 Toyota pickup, driven by David Chenevert (W/M 68 yrs). The Toyota was northbound on LA Hwy 115 when Chenevert lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. Chenevert was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. *This crash was not weather related. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 6 fatal crashes in 2014, resulting in 8 fatalities.
