TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 24, 2015 Unrestrained Mississippi Man Killed in Crash Concordia Parish – Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man that was not wearing his seat belt. Troopers responded to the crash around 3:10 a.m., which occurred on US Hwy 84 in the Ridgecrest Community. The crash involved a 2011 Nissan Armada, driven by Robert E. Hargrave (B/M 42 yrs) of Natchez, MS. The Nissan was westbound on US Hwy 84 when Hargrave lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with several trees. Hargrave was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt and properly restraining your children in car seats will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Although the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers would like to remind the public of the following: inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and is a leading cause of crashes in our state. It is important for motorists to pay attention to what is going on outside of the vehicle they are driving. Troop E Troopers have investigated 15 fatal crashes in 2015, resulting in 20 fatalities.
