TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 14, 2016 Unrestrained Natchez Man Killed in Crash Catahoula Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Natchez, MS. He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected during the crash. Troopers responded to the crash around 1:20 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 124 near the Diversion Canal Levee Road. The crash involved a 2007 Mazda pickup, driven by Allen A. Kennon (W/M 68 yrs). The Mazda was eastbound on LA Hwy 124 when Kennon lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning. Kennon was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead. The investigation remains ongoing. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated 30 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 35 fatalities.
