TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 13, 2016 Unrestrained Urania Man Killed in Crash LaSalle Parish – Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Urania, LA that was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers responded to the crash around 3:30 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 127 south of Olla, LA. The crash involved a 2000 Ford pickup, driven by Danny R. Corley (W/M 61 yrs) and a 1979 AMG (tractor truck), driven by Larry W. Adkins Jr. (W/M 36 yrs) of Grayson, LA. The Ford was southbound on LA Hwy 127 and the AMG (18 wheeler hauling a skidder) was northbound on LA Hwy 127. As the Ford passed the private escort vehicle, it moved to the right and collided with a guardrail. After this initial collision, the Ford then crossed the centerline and collided with the AMG. Corley was pronounced dead on the scene. Adkins Jr. was wearing his seat belt and was not injured. The investigation remains ongoing. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated 28 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 33 fatalities.
