TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 13, 2016 Unrestrained Alexandria Man Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Earlier this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Alexandria, LA that was not wearing his seat belt. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:10 a.m., which occurred on US Hwy 167 south of US Hwy 71. The crash involved a 2003 Buick LeSabre, driven by Robert Louis Foreman Jr. (B/M 27 yrs). The Buick was southbound on US Hwy 167 when Foreman Jr. lost control and exited the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a bridge support before crossing the northbound lanes and colliding with a tree. Foreman Jr. was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated seventeen fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in nineteen fatalities.
