TROOP E NEWS RELEASE May 22, 2016 Pineville Motorcyclist Killed in Grant Parish Crash Grant Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Pineville, LA. He was wearing a helmet, but was ejected from the motorcycle. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:00 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 71 near Montgomery, LA. The crash involved a 2008 Harley Davidson, driven by Bobby R. Houston (B/M 60 yrs). The Harley was southbound on US Hwy 71 when Houston lost control and exited the right side of the roadway before overturning. Houston was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seat belts decrease your risk of serious injury or death. Troop E Troopers have investigated 19 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 21 fatalities.
