TROOP E NEWS RELEASE July 6, 2016 Unrestrained New Orleans Woman Killed in Crash Catahoula Parish – Earlier this afternoon, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from New Orleans, LA. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Troopers responded to the crash around 1:35 p.m., which occurred on US Hwy 425 north of Sicily Island. The crash involved a 2003 Toyota Sequoia, driven by Dianne J. Goldman (B/F 62 yrs). The Toyota was northbound on US Hwy 425 when Goldman lost control and exited the left side of the roadway into the median. After exiting the left side, Goldman overcorrected her vehicle and exited the right side before it overturned. Goldman was pronounced dead. The investigation remains ongoing. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 32 fatalities.
