TROOP E NEWS RELEASE June 19, 2017 Olla Man Killed in Late Morning Crash Grant Parish – Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Olla, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 11:15 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 8 in the Fishville community. The crash involved a 2012 Lexus E35, driven by Nick B. Harris (W/M 29 yrs) and a 2008 Kenworth (18 wheeler), driven by Timothy H. Armstrong (W/M 55 yrs) of Georgetown, LA. The Lexus was eastbound on LA Hwy 8 when Harris lost control and crossed the centerline in a curve. This action resulted in the Lexus colliding with the westbound Kenworth, which was loaded with logs. Harris was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead. Armstrong was wearing a seat belt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center for treatment. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 21 fatal crashes in 2017, resulting in 26 fatalities. Contact Information: | |||
