TROOP E NEWS RELEASE June 19, 2017 Florien Man Killed in Sabine Parish Crash Sabine Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Florien, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:10 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 6 near Fort Jessup. The crash involved a 2008 Peterbilt (18 wheeler, loaded with logs), driven by Samuel J. Richardson (W/M 60 yrs). The Peterbilt was westbound on LA Hwy 6 when Richardson lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle overturned in the eastbound ditch. Richardson was wearing a seat belt, but was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 22 fatal crashes in 2017, resulting in 27 fatalities. Contact Information: | |||
