TROOP E NEWS RELEASE November 19, 2016 Dodson Man Killed in Winn Parish Crash Winn Parish – Late yesterday afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Dodson, LA. He was wearing his seat belt, but the other driver and her passenger were not. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:40 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 34 west of Holly Swamp. The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Tina R. Cagle (W/F 39 yrs) of Dodson and a 1981 GMC pickup, driven by William C. King (W/M 60 yrs). The Chevrolet was westbound on LA Hwy 34 when Cagle lost control and crossed the centerline. This action resulted in the Chevrolet colliding head-on with the eastbound GMC. Cagle received serious injuries and was transported to Winn Medical Center. Her passenger, identified as DeAnna M. Harris (42 yrs) of Jonesboro, LA, received moderate injuries and was transported to Winn Medical Center. King was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. Troop E Troopers have investigated 49 fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in 55 fatalities.
