TROOP E NEWS RELEASE August 7, 2015 Motorcyclist Dies after Striking Pickup Truck Head-on AVOYELLES PARISH, LA – A Marksville man died today after the motorcycle he was operating struck a pickup truck head-on. On August 7, 2015, at 3:15 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two-vehicle crash on Little River Road in Avoyelles Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Honda motorcycle operated by 45-year-old Danny S. Clark of Marksville was traveling northeast on Little River Road. Clark was operating the motorcycle on the left side of the centerline in the opposing lane of travel as he passed two vehicles. A 2005 Ford F-150 driven by 53-year-old Leroy Lemoine of Hamburg was traveling southwest on Little River Road. Lemoine encountered the motorcycle heading straight for him and drove off the right side of the road in an attempt to avoid a collision. The motorcycle struck the pickup truck head-on and became lodged beneath the truck. Clark was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Avoyelles Parish Coroner’s Office. Hamburg was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E has investigated 24 fatal crashes in 2015 resulting in 29 fatalities. | |||
