TROOP E NEWS RELEASE

April 21, 2016
Vidalia Woman Killed in Crash

Concordia Parish – Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Vidalia, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 7:50 p.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 131 near Country Meadows Road. The crash involved a 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by Lauren S. Franklin (W/F 26 yrs). The Nissan was southbound on LA Hwy 131 when Franklin lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle traveled through a field before overturning in a bayou and becoming submerged.

Franklin was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

Troop E Troopers have investigated thirteen fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in fifteen fatalities.
