TROOP E NEWS RELEASE March 9, 2016 Campti Woman Killed in Crash Natchitoches Parish – Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a woman from Campti, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 486 west of LA Hwy 6. The crash involved a 2000 Jeep, driven by Patrick R. Johnson (W/M 48 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA and a 2015 Kia, driven by Iva M. Curtis (W/F 76 yrs). The Jeep was eastbound on LA Hwy 486 when Johnson lost control and crossed the centerline. After crossing the centerline, the Jeep collided with the westbound Kia. Johnson was wearing his seat belt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Curtis was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated seven fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in nine fatalities.
