TROOP E NEWS RELEASE March 27, 2016 Unrestrained Many Man Killed in Crash Sabine Parish – Last night, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Many, LA and injured a woman from Shreveport, LA. He was not wearing a seat belt, but she was. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:30 p.m. which occurred on LA Hwy 6 east of LA Hwy 3118. The crash involved a 1992 Honda Civic, driven by John M. Harris (W/M 60 yrs) and a 2013 Toyota Corolla, driven by Crystal Hall Pepper (W/F 26 yrs). The Honda was westbound on LA Hwy 6 when Harris lost control and crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane. This action resulted in the Honda colliding with the eastbound Toyota. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Pepper received moderate injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated eleven fatal crashes in 2016, resulting in thirteen fatalities.
