TROOP E NEWS RELEASE October 20, 2015 Unrestrained Alexandria Teen Killed in Crash Rapides Parish – Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Alexandria, LA. She was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected during the crash. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:33 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 457 north of US Hwy 71. The crash involved a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Bree D. Ducote (W/F 17 yrs). The Chevrolet was northbound on LA Hwy 457 when Ducote lost control, exited the right side of the roadway, and collided with a mailbox. After colliding with the mailbox, she overcorrected her vehicle, exited the left side, and collided with two trees. Ducote was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!” Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Not wearing a seat belt remains the leading cause of death in motor vehicle crashes. Troop E Troopers have investigated 39 fatal crashes in 2015, resulting in 46 fatalities.
