Unrestrained Man Dies in Allen Parish Crash

On August 12, 2012, at 7:13 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 10 west of Louisiana Highway 112 in Allen Parish that claimed the life of a man from Elizabeth, Louisiana.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 51-year-old Gregory Edward Moore of Elizabeth was traveling east on LA 10 when the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and struck an embankment. Moore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Moore and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

The majority of fatal and serious injury crashes involve occupants who are not wearing seatbelts. The safest place during a crash is typically inside the vehicle. Seatbelts help prevent vehicle occupants from being ejected.

State law requires seatbelts to be used at every seating position in the vehicle. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of being properly restrained at all times.
