| News Release – Region 2 August 8, 2012 Lake Charles Man Arrested for Aggravated Rape On August 7, 2012, detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations charged 35-year-old David Thomas Shelton of Lake Charles with aggravated rape. It is suspected that Shelton engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a juvenile female. Shelton is already incarcerated at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center after his arrest by State Police investigators on July 12, 2012, for distribution of child pornography. Bond for this latest charge was set at $300,000. Troopers will continue to work to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting individuals who choose to prey upon children. This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.
