| News Release–Troop D April 18, 2012 Texas man transporting cocaine on I-10 arrested On April 17, 2011, shortly after 9:30 PM, a state trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D stopped a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for a traffic violation on Interstate Highway 10 eastbound near Welsh in Jefferson Davis Parish. Troopers requested and received permission to search the vehicle from the driver, 40-year-old Gilbert Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas. Once inside the vehicle, troopers located and recovered 17 kilos of cocaine (approximately 44.8 pounds) with an estimated street value of $500,000. Sanchez was arrested for speeding and possession with intent to distribute cocaine and was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail. Contact Information: Sgt.
