TROOP D NEWS RELEASE August 8, 2014 Troopers Arrest Hit and Run Driver Calcasieu Parish, LA- On August 3, 2014, at 4:03 a.m. Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 108 at its intersection with Louisiana Highway 27 near Sulphur that seriously injured one of the drivers. Troopers arrived at the scene and observed a 2002 Dodge pickup truck with heavy damage on the driver’s side sitting on the shoulder of LA 108. The driver of the Dodge pickup had been struck by another vehicle that had made an improper turn. The other vehicle was no longer at the scene. The driver of the Dodge pickup truck was transported from the scene to a local hospital with a fractured back, fractured pelvis, and broken ribs. Evidence at the scene indicated that the other vehicle was a Ford F-250. The evidence was secured and an investigation was initiated to locate the hit and run driver. As part of the investigation, area repair shops and car dealerships were examined in an effort to locate the hit and run vehicle. A Ford F-250 with damage consistent with involvement in the crash was located at a car dealership in Sulphur Troopers confronted the man who traded in the vehicle, 58-year-old Gary Lynn Fee of Sulphur, at his residence on August 7, 2014. During questioning, Fee admitted to that he was driving that night, that he was involved in the crash, and that he left the scene and went home. Fee was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center for hit and run driving, negligent injuring, failure to report an accident, improper turn, and expired motor vehicle inspection. Bond was set at $16,600.
