TROOP D NEWS RELEASE June 30, 2014 Fatal Crash in Allen Parish Allen Parish – On June 29, 2014, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 26 east of Oberlin that claimed the life of an Oberlin woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 72-year-old Emily V. Adams of Oberlin was traveling west on LA 26 when the vehicle entered a curve and drifted off the roadway. Adams overcorrected, crossed the center line and crashed into a ditch. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner’s Office. A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Adams for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, inattentive and distracted driving contribute to a significant number of crashes in our state.
