Troopers Support Lake Charles “Polar Plunge” for Special Olympics Louisiana

Each year, Louisiana State Police is a proud supporter of Special Olympics Louisiana. On Saturday, March 2, 2013, Troopers will be “Freezin’ for a Reason” as L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles will host a “
Polar Plunge” to help raise money to support Special Olympics programs. Troopers along with Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and others will be on hand at this event to support the families and participants of this year’s plunge.

The “Polar Plunge” will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 9:00 a.m. at the L’Auberge Casino Resort located at 777 Avenue L’Auberge in Lake Charles. Individual or team registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and costumes are encouraged. This will be a fun-filled event and Troopers are hoping for a large turnout. Mike Soileau from Cajun Radio will emcee the festivities and John Bridges from KPLC TV will be one of our celebrity plungers.

Registration for the “Polar Plunge” may be completed online at www.laso.org. Additional information regarding ways the public can support Special Olympics Louisiana can also be found on this website.

Please come out to L’Auberge Casino Resort on Saturday, March 2 and support this worthy cause. With over 13,500 Special Olympics participants in Louisiana alone, this organization brings hope and happiness to tens of thousands of family members, friends, and most importantly to those participating. Special Olympics Louisiana relies upon the generosity of corporate and individual donations, civic groups, foundation grants and special events such as the “Polar Plunge” to fund programs that make a difference in the lives of these athletes.
