REGION 2 NEWS RELEASE May 23, 2013 Calcasieu Parish Resident Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography On May 13, 2013, investigators with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations conducted a search warrant at a residence in the community of Lebleu Settlement in Calcasieu Parish. The search warrant was obtained as the result of an Operation Child Watch investigation into the suspected downloading of child pornography. A search of the residence of 41-year-old Charles B. Compton resulted in the seizure of a computer and other data devices for examination. A subsequent forensic analysis by State Police investigators revealed that child pornography was present on Compton’s computer. On May 22, 2013, Compton was arrested for pornography involving juveniles and was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $100,000. If convicted, Compton faces up to a $50,000 fine and from five to twenty years in prison without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting those individuals with sexually explicit images and/or videos on their computers. This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies. Contact Information: | |||
