News Release – Troop D January 9, 2012 Fatal motorcycle crash in Calcasieu Parish On Sunday, January 08, 2012, at 10:28 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on LA 384 at Calcasieu Locks Road in Calcasieu Parish that claimed the life of a Lake Charles man. Investigating troopers report that 33-year-old Peter J. Delrocini of Lake Charles was traveling north on LA 384 at Calcasieu Locks Road when the 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was riding ran off the road, traveled down an embankment, and slid across a grassy ditch before coming to rest. Delrocini was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office. Delrocine was wearing an approved helmet. A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Delrocini and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash has not yet been determined, distracted driving is a leading cause of crashes in our state.
