State Police Seize Heroin on Interstate 10

WELSH - On the morning of July 14, 2010, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D stopped a white 1999 Dodge pickup for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile post 57 east of Welsh in Jefferson Davis Parish. Troopers met with the driver of the vehicle, Mario Rodriguez Aguilero, age 40. After speaking with Aguilero, troopers asked for and received permission to search the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of over 21 pounds of "brown" heroin hidden in the truck. The heroin has a wholesale value of approximately $350,000.

Troopers with the State Police Bureau of Investigation as well as a Federal agent with Homeland Security Investigations responded and interviewed Aguilero. He was then booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.
